Glasses assembly
As soon as you place an order for presbyopia glasses, reading glasses or prescription glasses on our website www.varionet.com, We check the frame and lenses to see if there are any manufacturing problems: defective welding, damaged acetate plastic, lens surface treatment, no scratches… Then we proceed with assembly and shipping.

Glasses assembly procedure
– Lens alignment Whether it is a progressive lens or a resting lens, we will check, using a lens-focometer, that the power of the lens corresponds to your order or prescription and mark the optical center of the lens.
– Feeling the frame This operation is performed with a probe that is inserted into the frame's groove to scan the shape of the two circles on the right and left. For rimless or semi-rimless frames, we will only probe the diameter of one lens.
– Centering and suction cup The probe is connected to a centering device that displays the shape of the frame. We record the various parameters to be taken into account: the client's pupillary distance, the mounting height, the type of lens, the frame, the type of grinding to be carried out… we can thus correctly position the lens and attach it using a suction cup and a double-sided adhesive for cutting.

– Glass grinding Using a machine equipped with different grinding wheels (one for each material), we cut the glass. All the previously recorded data is transmitted to the machine. It verifies that the diameter and thickness of the glass allow for this step. The glass then passes over a roughing wheel and then over a finishing wheel with finer grits, depending on the material.
Depending on the chosen mount, the grinding process will vary:
- Bevel for fully rimmed frames
- Grooving for semi-rimless frames with nylon or metal wire
- Flat bevel for rimless frames
The lens is shaped to fit the frame.

– Counter bevel We create a counter-bevel using a hand-held finishing wheel. The aim is to break the edges of the glass so that it is not sharp and this prevents unsightly chips.
– Assembly The lens mounting process differs depending on the material of the eyeglasses:
- for plastic frames : we heat the glasses in order to soften the material and to be able to clip the lenses onto them.
- for metal frames: We check that the curvature of the metal rim is identical to that of the glass and, using a screwdriver, we open the frame to position the lenses.
- for Nylor mounts: Using a plastic tab, the nylon thread is caught in order to insert it into the groove of the glass.
- for rimless frames: Using a precision drill we drill the mounting holes and then we assemble the branches and bridge with screwdrivers, screws and nuts with plastic chimneys.
- Verification The assembly is complete; we put the glasses back on the lensometer to check the power and centering of the lenses.
- Dressing : after assembly the frames are often slightly deformed; it is necessary to check that the lenses are in the same plane, the temples and nose pads are symmetrical, and that the glasses close correctly.
- Cleaning : final step to remove all traces of fingerprints and markings from the lenses…
